IS A NONCOLOUR AUTOMATICALLY COLOURLESS? OR, ASKED DIFFERENTLY: CAN A NONCOLOUR BRING COLOURATION INTO OUR LIVES?
People relate white to a palette of characteristics, associations, and emotions that are not assigned to other colours. In almost all connections white has a positive interpretation. Purity, enlightenment, simplicity and innocence are just some examples for such positive conjunctions. For us design experts it is the Colour of the Year 2008. The all-rounder white stands for clarity and works easily and calmingly in a trend conscious habitat. White is however not simply white: The nuances range from snow white to creamy, brownish through to bluish and greyish. But not just furniture has become a subject for the whiteners, no, our flatware and porcelain will also become somewhat more noncoloured and unadorned than usual this year. And, if you really don`t want to fully relinquish all colour, how about a (white) fruit bowl? Fresh fruit is definitely only available in colour…
